Although Eton College’s main purpose in constructing a rowing lake has been to ensure the future of rowing at the School, however the governing body of the College intends that the lake and its facilities shall provide a much needed facility for the region and the county and be readily available for rowing, canoeing dragon boat and triathlon training for all levels of athlete from beginner to high performance, with the emphasis on junior rowing.

The Dorney Lake, Park and Arboretum freehold is owned by Eton College and the Lake operation is managed by an independent charity (a not-for-profit organisation) called Dorney Lake Trust. An Operating Policy Group representing users of the facility, including Eton College, meet to advise the Trust and the College.

  Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle is one of three official residences of The Queen and has been home to the Sovereign for over 900 years. The Castle is the largest inhabited castle in the world and the oldest in continuous occupation. The imposing towers and battlements of the Castle loom large from every approach to the town, creating one of the world's most spectacular skylines. No other royal residence has played such an important role in the nation's history.
Between 1 October 2005 and March 2006, the semi-state rooms will be open to the public. George IV created these in the 1820s as part of a new series of Royal Apartments for his personal occupation. They continue in use by The Queen for official entertaining. Damaged in the 1992 fire, they have been restored to their original appearance and contain furniture and works of art chosen by George IV. The semi-state rooms include The Green Drawing Room, The Crimson Drawing Room, The State Dining Room and The Octagon Dining Room.
When the Queen is in residence the Royal Standard flies from the Round Tower. At all other times you will see the Union Flag.
Windsor Castle has been named one of the Seven Wonders of Britain in a major survey by Yellow Pages, backed by the English Tourism Council. Sharing the limelight with attractions such as the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and Cornwall’s Eden Project, Windsor Castle is considered one of the ‘must see’ sites for visitors from Britain and overseas.
